Banistmo S.A. (Banistmo) commenced operations on August 1, 2004, under the laws of the Republic of Panama. The Superintendency of Banks granted it a General Banking License, permitting the bank to conduct a range of banking transactions in both Panama and abroad.

Banistmo provides a diverse array of financial services directly and through its subsidiaries, catering primarily to institutions and individuals.

In addition to corporate and consumer banking, the bank offers services such as financial leasing, fiduciary administration of assets, payment agencies, registration, and transfer, as well as brokerage and securities trading. Many of these activities are subject to the supervision of regulatory authorities.

Banistmo is wholly owned by Bancolombia, S.A., which serves as the ultimate controlling entity.
