Panamanian Banks uses drones for interbank services

Panamanian banks remain at the forefront of innovation and now use drones to move different products between bank branches. Banistmo made the first flight, as part of a pilot plan to make the operation of interbank messaging more efficient.

The pilot project arose after the identification of various logistic requirements that Banistmo required for the efficient exchange of documents between its branches.

The first flight traveled a distance of about 2 km from point to point within the Panamanian metropolitan area. The flights were authorized by the Autoridad de Aeronautica Civil (ACC) [Aviation Authority] and supported by LatAm Drones, specialists in aerial robotics.

With the execution of this pilot plan, Banistmo position themselves as leaders in Latinoamerica innovation, bringing Panama to the level of markets such as China, Australia, Europe and the U.S. in which the use of these new technologies are already a reality.
